While its central campaign is indeed as short as you might’ve heard at around two hours, its multitude of options make for an engaging and tense experience that encourages replayability for hours afterward. It avoids lengthy cutscenes, climactic boss fights, and the usual frayed and tangled plot strands in favour of smart, tactical gameplay. Surprisingly, the default key inputs are useful, something that is rarely the case with console-to-PC ports. Otherwise, I was happily enticed by Ground Zeroes’ world for a good eight to ten hours. A couple of side op missions fall down because they encourage a louder approach. Don't let that stop you from purchasing it, though. Excellent, optimized FOX Engine will run on almost any rig with discrete graphics. Some PC-centric expectations are met, most notably the beautiful graphics that were built on Kojima Productions's impressive FOX Engine; they outmatch Ground Zeroes's PlayStation 4 and Xbox One visuals. What that entails is still somewhat of a mystery, but rumor has it that the prisoners you rescue in Ground Zeroes will become members of your customizable Phantom Pain base. Legendary soldier Snake must infiltrate Camp Omega, a Guantanamo Bay stand-in, and rescue his young subordinates Chico and Paz. Regardless of some missing features PC diehards would have loved, Snake's latest escapade is a satisfying sandbox appetizer that's engaging enough for repeat plays. A new dive move lets him escape detection in the blink of an eye, and many of his moves from Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker return in refined forms. A Big Boss/Snake adventure has never looked or played better, and in it lies incredible promise for its enormous big brother -- Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Score-chasers might be the only ones to find long-lasting appeal in Ground Zeroes, but there’s certainly plenty of content here to satisfy. An option to shut off Kaz's tutorial messages about "iDroids" and "hiding bodies" would have been appreciated, too. PC Options Even with the graphics settings set to low, Ground Zeroes is a beautiful game; with the graphics setting set to high, Ground Zeroes is stunning. You'll be carrying bodies in Ground Zeroes. Don't expect a full-blown campaign, however.
