The problem lies in the prices the ckaes prices are quite good the coffeee prices arent to bad but the sanwich prices are just a bit steep for a cafe. That said, it is an excellent place for some fresh air -- highly recommended. When everything finally arrived, we drank up as quickly as possible (mainly because everything was verging on tepid) and I didn't bother waiting for someone to bring the bill as clearly, it wasn't going to happen. Fortunately the queue moved fairly fast so we could get down to business; ie. For a cheap day out take the kids to Roundhay Park. although on weekends it can get very busy in places, if you want some peace and quiet there are so many nooks and hidden parts of the park that you can disappear, find a nice little spot on the grass and just chill the hell out in the sunshine! There is the usual municipal stuff about 'even shallow water can drown you' and a good cafe in the middle. There is a great children's play area for the smaller children and a skate board park for older ones.You can always go through the Park and cross over the main road to the Tropical World which is another great place to visit and free if you have a Leeds card. The Lakeside at Roundhay Park has a great position at the bottom of the Waterloo lake with superb views across the lake, swans, ducks, etc.I visit a couple of times a month to have breakfast and meet up with various friends. For dog walkers - 'The Gorge' is always a lot quiter than walking round the lakes! Roundhay Park was the first place I ever visited with one of my now best friends. Yes we do have gluten free options, including cakes, sandwiches and daily specials. We decided to take the forest route rather than walking over the greens. There were 2 car parks nearby, both of which get pretty full so I would advise planning ahead and getting here early if you wish to visit. personally, i love this place. With an excellent latte alongside, they make a very good breakfast. A big bonus goes to them actually having a childrens chaging facility in the mens room these are few are far between and makes for a good thing for Dad's that arent afriad of being seen in public changing their kids diaper. The Lakeside Cafe situated in the picturesque Roundhay Park, adjoining the tranquil Waterloo Lake, is a delightful eatery that offers hot drinks, food and desserts of many varieties.Personally, after visiting this ambient place, where the seating is comfortable and the atmosphere is welcoming, as well the staff who meet and greet you with a smile. This was our first trip to Roundhay Park since the pandemic (we're not locals, but our family are, so we visit reasonably regularly). So the problem now is, what is the etiquette for asking for the problem to be rectified when there is a one way system in the cafe and everything is table service. That said, just exploring the park aimlessly is likely to bring you across so many interesting and beautiful spots that it almost seems a shame to visit with a particular goal in mind.
