Upon arrival, we were given a warm welcome from the lady on reception and as we had arrived early she was more than happy to provide us with a quick tour of the ground floor rooms.There was a party of us and we were in a lovely, cozy side room with great garden views. We were shown to our table and offered a pot of tea. We received a reply straight away informing us that we would be more than welcome. Arrived early for our booking for afternoon tea but it was no problem for us to be seated a little early, The young waiter who was very pleasant asked if we wanted Tea or Coffee which was brought promptly. The food was of a high standard and the service was exceptional. Such a kind review! The tea itself is perfect and could rival some of the top rated afternoon teas. The menu was superb and the dessert was one of the best I've ever had.Breakfast was a very comfortable and civilised affair both days and I know that the married couple thoroughly enjoyed their very special day . Then our food arrived. Staff were very friendly and professional. The staff were friendly efficient and flexible. It was such a delight to have a lovely tea with in a beautiful setting. I can see why this place is so highly reviewed, from the minute we walked in we were met by helpful cheery staff (especially our server wish i had caught her name). Our room (room 4) was on the first floor overlooking the rear garden and was very spacious. The quiche was delicious if cold in the middle, sandwiches were lovely but the cakes were very disappointing. What totally spoiled this for us was for the whole time we were seated in the restaurant there was a man on the table behind us conducting a business meeting on his phone - very loudly. We sat outside as the weather was warm which added to the occasion. We felt that for £12.50 each, we really got our money's worth.
